Biography

David Neil Easterby passed away August 20, 2023, in the Meadow Lake Hospital at the age of 74. He left this world peacefully and surrounded in love; his sister Pam and brother-in-law Dave constantly by his side.


David was born October 30, 1948 in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. In 1962, the family moved to Cut Knife, Saskatchewan. There David spent many of his years with time also spent living in Saskatoon, North Battleford and Nanaimo, British Columbia.


David was a journeyman plumber, long time auto and heavy-duty mechanic, hunting guide, amazing carpenter, welder and avid outdoorsman. A man well known for his hard work and readiness to help anyone when needed.


Besides spending time with family, David’s favourite pastimes were hunting and fishing and anything outdoors. He made sure that he got to do all of them with family and friends whenever possible. The stories about these times are endless and entertaining to say the least. His knowledge of the outdoors was second to none.


In his later years, David built himself his dream home on the south shore of Canoe Lake, Cole Bay, Saskatchewan. Here he spent the last number of years in a place he truly loved. David was a well-liked and respected member of the small community. He was always up for company and treated them like royalty while they were there. All were welcome and many stories and jokes were shared.


Known as a kind and generous man, David had a heart of gold. He will be deeply missed by family and friends alike.


Left to cherish his memory are his brother Rod (Bonny) Easterby, niece Brenda (Mike) Renaud and children Jacob, Evan and Sydney and nephew Sean Easterby; his sister Pam (Dave) Cayford, great nephews Aidan (Brooklyn) Collins and Sawyer (Marj) Collins, his niece Kimberley (Shaun) Cayford and children Alexi, Lemmy and Max. David’s memory will also be held dear to the heart by his close cousins and their families and many friends.


David was predeceased by his parents Rodger and Ruth Easterby, brothers Terry and Ronald and his nephew Chris Cayford.


At his request, cremation has taken place and a small intimate gathering will be held to scatter his ashes later this Fall in the lake near his home.
